Wednesday Nov 10th: "On November 10th 2011 I will be..."

Today we took a trip into the future and imagined ourselves exactly one year from now.

Where will we be? What will we be doing? Who will be the people around us?

After talking about the people who we know in our lives that have graduated from college we moved on to playing a "stand u if game" in which students stood up if certain phrases applied to them. Some of the questions were:
Stand up if: If you're excited to graduate
Stand up if: you're nervous about next year
Stand up if: you wonder whether you'lll make the right choices

As Emily pointed out, it was nice to see that our feelings were shared with others in the classroom.

After that exercise we began writing or drawing "a comic strip of my life" in which each student (including Bryn Mawr students) took into considerations steps and obstacles in order to get to where they want to be exactly one year from now. We were able to see some really good talent and ideas as the students brainstormed and DID ART at the same time.

We finished the class with a conversation about reactions to the lesson and worries about the responsibilities after graduating from high school. Brieyanna gave us a very thoughtful comment with which to end the class

Also by today everyone began to REALLY REALLY miss Zanny, especially the Parkway students, and we can't wait to have her back on Friday!!
