Friday, November 5th:

Today we spent half of the class working one-on-ones with resume building and completing our folders.
We used a worksheet from the Step Up to College Guide to help Parkway students begin mapping out all of their activities and jobs throughout their high school years. A lot of them were surprised by how much they had done and how good it looked on paper!

We are hoping that they'll be able to use their resume when applying for jobs or college next year!

Some Parkway students were also interviewed by college students in order to complete their folders in which they asked everything from who wrote their recommendations to what colleges they are thinking of applying to. The purpose of the folders is to keep track of what the student's needs are and to know where they stand in regards to their plans for next year.

We are proud to say that EVERYONE's folder is complete and that we'll now be able to track everyone's progress.

The last 30 minutes of class was spent on creating quotes and images to go with individual pictures of each student to put around the classroom. We asked the Parkway students to look at their photo and then think of what message it conveys about who they are and what would be a good caption to go with it.
They had great ideas and we are looking forward to putting them around the room!
