Tuesday, October 19th: Focus on the film 'First Person'

Dorian watching a graduation scene from "First Person"
On Tuesday we finished watching the documentary film, "First Person," in anticipation of our visit to Bryn Mawr College on Thursday. During the trip the Bryn Mawr, students from the SSB will attend a class with the filmmaker and three of the students featured in the film.

After watching the film we worked in small groups with Anna, Enuma, and Rachel and discussed our reactions to the film and the issues it raised.

At the end of class students wrote out questions they want to ask the students from the film:

-How did you feel if/when you realized that your original college goals were changed?
-Did you stay at Community college or did you end up going to Drexel?
-Did you go to college after you graduated
-Why did you not look for any scholarships or grants
-Did you try to apply for grants and scholarships?
-Did you think it was too much for you to go college?
-Why do you wish to be a part of the circus instead of nursing?
-Did they like the feedback they received?
-Do you like the way were interpreted on the film? The way the audience perceived you after editing?
-Even though you attended CCP, is your life anyway you experienced it to be?
-If you could do your whole junior year over, what would you do differently?
-How do you think you were look upon in the movie?
-If you had a chance to start over from 9th grade would you, and would you do it or bull crap around again?
-What was the reason you didn’t end up going to Drexel?
-Are you satisfied with the choice of college or not going to college that you made?
-What did you do after graduation?
