Everyone agreed that this Thursday felt more like a Friday. Between the Senior Portraits, the rain, and the visits from two universities the day was a little chaotic.
However, as always, there was lots of activity! Shelby and some other students interested in nursing and forensic science got the chance to talk with an admissions counselour from Carlow University in Pittsburgh. What stood out about Carlow is that it's a small school with lots of opportunities to engage students in meaningful work as undergraduates, whether that is doing applied psychology research or working in a hospital through the BSN program. The Carlow representative stressed the importance of having multiple options when you apply to schools so you have maximum flexible come spring and high school graduation.
During 8th period we had a presentation from a senior admissions counselour at Lincoln University. What stood out from the Lincoln presentation was the various scholarships offered to admitted students that make it much more affordable as well as generous scholarships to students who plan on going on to Law or Medical school.
Dashanda was at school in the afternoon to take her senior picture! She said she and Quadir are doing well but she's looking forward to coming back to school. She's planning on coming back November 19th. We look forward to having her back!!
Dominique asserted that chocolate cake makes her hyper.
Britney M., Brieyanna, and Nadine were all at work on their applications to Morgan State University, which they are going to visit tomorrow. Best of luck to everyone who is going on the Morgan trip and planning on turning in their applications tomorrow!
Tomorrow students will get to work on college and school work with a college student. And Monday the whole class will get to go to mural wall at 4400 Haverford to paint the mural!!
